Know About St. Joe Beach

ST JOE BEACH:    https://www.visitgulf.com

St. Joe Beach offers dedicated public beach access. St. Joe Beach is pet-friendly (on leashes please) and known for its surf fishing and remarkable sunsets. While a golf cart-friendly community, beach driving is not allowed. You may not cross Highway 98 nor ride the carts on Highway 98 or the sidewalks; however, you may drive up to the stop signs adjacent to Highway 98 and park along the shoulder of the side road & walk across to the public beach access points. There is no way to get into the City of Port St Joe nor drivable beaches (Cape San Blas or Indian Pass) on a Golf Cart. Gulf County is a Leave No Trace area – please clean up after your pets, yourself, and remove all items from the beach at sunset. Please follow the rules and regulations of Gulf County to preserve St. Joe Beach for generations to come.
Can you drive golf carts on the beach at St. Joe Beach?
No! While St. Joe Beach is a golf cart-friendly community, golf carts cannot legally cross Highway 98. You can drive the cart up to the STOP signs on the side road, park on the shoulder of the side road, and walk across to the beaches (no parking along Hwy. 98). All back roads that are accessible can be utilized for driving to shops, dining, and other areas where available.

How old do you have to be to drive a golf cart?
We require our rental drivers to be at least 21 years old OR a licensed driver 16 years or older with a licensed driver 21+. We also ask for proof of a valid driver's license and car insurance at the time of rental.

Leave No Trace
Remove all belongings (including the rental items) from the beach at night. Gulf County does patrol and will remove any items left on the beach and discard them. The renter is responsible for the replacement of any rental items should this occur, as well as damage and/or lost revenue.

Sea Turtles
Sea Turtle Nesting season is May 1st through October 31st. Please remember during your visit to keep our Gulf County Beaches CLEAN, FLAT, & DARK for our emerging hatchlings and nesting mommas. Please fill in any holes and knock down sand sculptures before leaving the beaches. Beachfront homes are required to have subtle lighting installed; please be mindful of indoor and outdoor lighting and close the blinds or curtains – the lights mimic the moon and disorient turtles and hatchlings.

FIRES
If permitted: Please put out and remove any remnants of beach bonfires by removing the wood/cooled embers. Make sure all wood is deemed suitable for fires (i.e., no nails, skids, trash, etc). You are able to secure a Solo Stove Bonfire rental as an add-on to make bonfires easier.
Please Note: The monitoring of Gulf County Burns Bans is your responsibility and we are not liable.
